  1. I like the way this blog introduces me to new stuff.Mostly 90's early 2000's and some not so good, but that's what music is right? Right now I am a big fan of Creeper Lagoon.

  2. The 90's and early '00's correspondes to the height of western civilization (read Napster), when it was easy to find 'new' songs by perusing and sampling the libraries of folks who liked the same obscure stuff as yourself.

  4. Hey Mark, thanks for including the "Strangler" song by Calla off our Youtube channel, beautiful selection you made there ! Will definitely try to listen to the whole stuff when we get a wee bit more time, sounds exciting.

Also, you should visit a bit the rest of our indie record label channel, there are loads of songs that could be interesting for you, given your selection, as we licensed / put out quite some American pop/indie rock & folk bands (Calla, Emily Jane White, Forest Fire, Idaho, The Walkmen, The National, The Organ...)

Anyways, thanks again for the selection, and keep up the good job !

  5. I'm not quite sure how I first heard of Calla but I bought the 'Televised' CD way back in 03 or 04. Went to their show at the Magic Stick around the same time. They put on a great show that included an Eno cover, 'Needle in the Camel's Eye'. Talked to Aurelio Valle at the merch table, seemed like a nice guy. I'll check out your recommendations when I get a chance.

  6. Nice to hear you met Aurelio and saw Calla live, they are definitely great performers, and could have make it big if not for some very unfortunate event chains, they definitely deserved more spotlight... Pure bad luck if you ask us.
The group seems to have had some activity recently, a new record would be very great ! Time will tell.
