I Like American Music Pt 50 of 50 - Stop Breaking Down

 For the last installment in the  'I Like American Music' series we go back to the origin of the American Rock 'n' Roll. Robert Johnson had a brief recording career lasted that only two years in the late 1930's.  In his last  recording session, in 1937 he recorded 'Stop Breaking Down'. Decades later his music was influential to prominent (non-American) musicians in the 1960's.

  The Rolling Stones (not American) revived the song with their cover of it on the "Exile on Main Street" album in 1972.  A generation later Jack White brought the song out into the daylight in 1999 on his bands self-titled album 'The White Stripes'.

  Back before TV stations were broadcasting 24 hours a day, many of them would sign off in the wee hours with the national anthem.  So in that manner we bring to a close part 50 of 50, in the "I Like American Music" series
